The
Real Cost of Paint
Your home is one of your biggest investment – a
true statement for most of us. For the most part, we
have a basic desire to protect our home.
In terms of protection we do many things. We winterize
our homes. We make our homes more burglar proof. We
insulate. And of course, we paint since protecting
the walls (inside and outside) is a good way to enhance
durability and to beautify our home.
Any paint won’t do!
For starters, lets think about the role of paint in
protection and beautification of your home.
When painting one should reflect on the total cost
to complete the job – including the cost of the
paint and the total cost of labor.
A quality paint will look better longer! And the results
will be readily apparent. A quality paint will deliver
better hiding; will allow for easy removal of household
stains; will go on smoother; will have good blister
resistance; will not chalk; will deliver mildew in
targeted areas; will have uniform
color; and will deliver this promise no matter what
sheen you chose. 100% Acrylic Paints are best suited
to deliver these properties.
So why not pay more to get a quality paint? In fact,
if you look at the cost over the lifetime of the paint,
the quality paint actually cost less. It pays to use
a quality paint!
Recently, the Paint Quality Institute conducted a
test of commercial paints via various channels. The
results showed that the 1st line (higher quality) paints
were more durable.
So read the label carefully. Look for 100% Acrylic
paints! And plan smartly – look for paints optimized
for targeted areas (e.g. kitchen and bath; exterior;
masonry, etc.)
