Training Tools – Be a Better
Professional!
Since it’s inception in 1989, the Paint Quality
Institute has developed numerous training pieces. In
this month’s Contractor newsletter we want to
focus on highlighting some of our most popular training
tools. Training is essential for providing contractors
with the confidence to choose the right paint for the
right situation, and lead to a more satisfied customer
experience.
What is the newest tool introduced by PQI? PQI has
teamed with PDCA (Painting and Decorating Contractors
of America) to offer 8 on-line courses. A brief description
of each course is captured below:

New Courses by PQI and PDCA!
• Paint and its Ingredients: Learn why you need to be
familiar
with paint ingredients. You will be able to better interpret paint data sheets
and labels and be better equipped to explain differences in paint performance
to customers.
• Interior Paints: You will
learn how to professionally prepare the surface to
prevent the paint and your paint job from failing.
• Interior Surface Preparation: PQI will show you how preparation plays
a key role in obtaining a uniform final coating.
• Exterior Paints: This course
covers the basic aspects of exterior paints, stains,
elastomeric wall coatings, and clear coatings.
You'll learn about the PQI Remedies for Common Paint Failures.
• Exterior Surface Preparation: The
how and why of priming and corrosion resistance is
covered so that your team will get the desired
results.
• Color and Decorating: The
objective is to help make you more comfortable in “talking color” with the customer – which
in many cases, will be appreciated very much!
• Applications Tools: This
course provides real insight on using the right tools
including picking the correct application
tool for the job. You will learn important facts about equipment, application
methods
and
procedures.
• Painting Safety: Key to your
success as professional painters the information in
this course will demonstrate methods
to protect yourselves, coworkers, facility managers and all those who want
to ensure
the safety of workers
and tenants alike.
