Creative Ways to update your interior in a weekend or lessIdea Archives

Paint offers a homeowner the option of implementing a powerfully visual and cost effective medium that instantly 'remodels' an existing space!

Depending upon the size of the area that is in question and the amount of help you will be receiving from family or friends, it is quite possible to uniquely transform part of your home using paint and color, with less money than you might spend in order to gas up your vehicle! Use rich, earthy paint colors to warm up a rustic styled, expansive space that contains high ceilings. Consider ethereal blues, icy aquas and cool greens to brighten up a small master bedroom with low ceilings and minimal natural light sources. Replace white with deep burgundy or bold cranberry, adding elegance to the top half of walls in a nondescript dining room featuring light wood wainscoting around the lower perimeter of the walls.

Not sure how to blend the colors of your existing space with your newly 'remodeled' painted wall coverings to ensure a harmonious balance of color? Remember to take existing colors into consideration when selecting colors for the area you plan to 'remodel' with paint.

Review the current color scheme, paying close attention to colors found within neighboring wall coverings, furnishings, fabrics, window treatments and floor coverings. Concentrate on staying with the same intensity of color, particularly when applying a new paint palette to an "open concept" area, where the spaces are essentially adjoining. Keep in mind that colors need not 'match' when adjacent to one another, as long as they graciously share the identical chroma, or brightness of color. Consider selecting one dominant color for the entire space that will be remodeled (whether that consists of an entire room or simply one focal point wall within a large space). Use 'accessory colors' (sharing the same vibrancy) to build on the desired color selection.
